A Movement Fueled by Purpose

We believe in a world where work doesn’t have to drain your soul. Instead, it can energize, inspire, and empower purpose. It starts with seeing people as they truly are—not as cogs in a machine but as individuals with unique drives and dreams.

This belief is at the heart of our Thrive Movement. It’s about creating engaged and purpose-driven cultures where people find joy in their work and feel supported to make their unique impact sustainably.

Our Story

Our journey began in 2014 when Gavin Lund co-founded Strengths-Mapper. It was born from a desire to guide people toward roles where they could flourish by embracing their natural strengths. The idea was simple yet profound: What if work could feel more like a place of purpose and less like a place of struggle?

But as we walked that path, we realized something essential: identifying strengths was only the beginning. Strengths-Mapper planted the seed of something bigger—a way to transform not just careers but work culture. Even though Strengths-Mapper had to be discontinued due to circumstances beyond our control, the seed had been planted.

In 2021, Dries Lombaard joined us on our journey after a growing friendship with Gavin, and together we built the EngagementFit DRIVE assessment, which we launched at the start of 2023.  Within the first 18 months, DRIVE had touched over 5,000 lives, unlocking potential and helping people feel truly seen and valued.  It became clear, however, that DRIVE wasn’t just a tool—it was a foundation for creating engaged, human-friendly workplaces where people could thrive.

Our Values Guide the Way

Our purpose is simple: To help people discover their inspired purpose and make their unique impact. To guide us, we live by five values:

  • Create shared experiences.
  • Be kind and make people feel safe.
  • Celebrate differences
  • Act from inspiration and surrender all control of the outcome.
  • Let go of where you are triggered.
  • Choose conscious inaction over fear-based action.
  • Be impeccable with language.
  • Simplify and do fewer things.
  • Create space for life to unfold.
  • Accept what is.
  • Be present and practice gratitude.
  • Follow your enthusiasm.
  • Prioritize sleep and rest.
  • Practice self-care.
  • In all pursuits, be sustainable.

These values remind us that the best work happens when we honour the whole person, not just their to-do list. They are why we are so passionate about creating workplaces where people can feel safe, connected, and inspired to do their best work.

Let’s Thrive Together

At EngagementFit, we’re not just creating business tools. We’re building a movement—a call to reimagine work as a place where people bring their best selves and feel empowered to create their greatest impact.

This is a journey of transformation. The world needs workplaces where people don’t just survive—they thrive. And we invite you to join us in shaping that future.

Meet Our Co-founders

My mission is to elevate human consciousness and empower individuals to discover and express their unique purpose. I am passionate about creating a world where people thrive by aligning their careers with their true potential.

Since 2002, I’ve been dedicated to personal and team development, drawing on my expertise as a Master Practitioner in Neurolinguistic Programming, Certified Strengths Coach, and Strategic Interventionist. My focus is on fostering trust, improving communication, and helping individuals and teams unlock their potential to lead meaningful, purpose-driven lives.

I co-founded Strengths-Mapper in 2014, a web application that helps companies align employees with roles that leverage their strengths, and Sterkla in 2019, an app-based coaching platform enabling organizations to scale coaching effectively. These ventures have allowed me to build and lead purpose-driven values-based teams and communities, mobilize visions, and integrate innovative technology into personal development.

As a futurist, I am inspired by the intersection of technology and human potential. I believe that by nurturing consciousness, we can redefine work, embrace ethical technologies, and address humanity’s greatest challenges in an ever-evolving world.

I am happily married to Kirsty and together we have two beautiful daughters.

I am a passionate entrepreneur and leadership development expert with a deep curiosity for understanding what drives people and organizations. My journey began with a strong foundation in psychology, theology, history, and philosophy, studied at the Universities of Stellenbosch and Pretoria. I became a certified Strengths Performance Coach (SPC III) through Gallup University in 2006 and hold additional certifications from Strengths Strategy (USA), the International Coach Academy (ICA), and the International Coach Federation (ICF) as an ACC.

As a former member of the Gallup Strengths Advisory Forum (2013), I was recognized for bringing StrengthsFinder to Southern Africa and building one of the strongest global Strengths Coach networks. With over 7,000 hours of coaching experience, I have worked with individuals and teams across more than 20 countries, including Russia, the UK, Germany, the USA, and South Africa.

I’ve facilitated coaching for leaders and teams at companies such as Aurecon, BASF, Discovery, MTN, VISA, and Volkswagen, and have trained over 1,200 Strengths Coaches worldwide.

Happily married to Rethea for 28 years, we have four daughters and live in the beautiful Garden Route of South Africa.
