Name

The Tension

Once you have noticed a pattern, the next act of leadership is to name it — honestly, directly, and with care. Naming tension is not about creating conflict. It is about bringing what is unspoken into the open, so it can be worked with rather than avoided.

Tension is not the enemy of good teamwork — unacknowledged tension is. When leaders name what is present, they release the energy trapped in ambiguity, avoidance, or assumption.
